   History-, genre-, and portrait-painter, master draughtsman, designer, and art agent. He was apprenticed to Jerrigh in Cologne. Court painter to Wilhelm the 5th in Munich and from 1601 Royal painter to the Court of Rudolf II. Besides standard portraits and religious themes, he also painted erotic scenes based on ancient mythology. Sometimes called the "galante" painter of his time.
